Today’s guest blogger is Linda York, one of two college relations specialists responsible for recruiting and managing each crew of Case IH summer interns. We asked Linda to tell us a little about the Case IH internship program, what types of internships will be available next summer, and how to apply for 2013.
It seems like every year, we expand the number of college interns we hire. Across CNH globally, there are more than 250 interns annually. Just here in Racine during the summer, we had a dozen working in several departments, including engineering, marketing, purchasing, logistics and accounting.
Two were events marketing interns, who traveled quite a bit and helped with trade shows. We also had a field sales intern who travelled 24/7 and lived in hotels for the summer. That’s not the norm – most Racine interns relocate here for the summer, where Case IH offers affordable housing. All our college interns are paid, including overtime.
And they don’t just file and make copies. Every intern is given real-world, daily work, as well as a summer-long project. At the end of their internship, each is responsible for giving a presentation to their managers on what they worked on and what they learned. Our intern-to-hire ratio is 56 percent. That’s the purpose of our intern program: to find future employees.
We also make sure they have some fun while they’re here. There are all kinds of unique summer festivals in Milwaukee – not to mention the Wisconsin State Fair – which we encourage our interns to explore. In July, we also had a “Ride & Drive” event just for the interns, where they got to ride in a brand new Case IH Steiger® 600, a MagnumTM and an Axial-Flow® combine.
As for recruiting, we’re doing that now. We’re visiting several different schools throughout the United States and Canada that host engineering career fairs and business career fairs. But that’s not the only way to land a Case IH internship.

Hello!
I’m a senior at Temple University studying Mechanical Engineering Technology. I’m very interested in any technical/engineering/testing internships you may have.
I have hands on experience with cars. tools, working with others, business and more. I’m also in the FSAE race car building club at school. I grew up working with my dad, a 40+ year New Holland employee, and he taught me a lot about hard word.
Really hope you consider me for an upcoming internship. Thanks, Adam Wojcik
