Harvesting season is underway, and whether your equipment needs regular maintenance or you need parts to make adjustments to your combine, Case IH is here to help you Be Ready.
Our newest online resource, www.BeRedandReady.com, offers a variety of online video tips to ensure that your Case IH combines work at peak efficiency this season. In addition to tips on combines, you can also find tips on tillage and AFS.
What tip or trick do you always use to get your combines ready for harvest?
Here’s a brief overview of what you will learn:
- Inspect the wear parts on your corn header by checking the overall condition of the chain, the sprockets, the stripper plates and the knives. Make sure all stripper plates are set uniformly and are wider at the back than the front by one-eighth of an inch.
- Check the chain tension and measure to determine the wear. Chains that measure more than 3 percent longer than the original chain may need to be replaced. When replacing chains, always replace the sprockets as well.
- To ensure maximum uptime, check and change the engine, hydraulic and gearbox fluids. Change filters as directed by the service intervals in your operator’s manual.
- Inspect the wear edge of concave bars, the straightness of the bars and their overall condition. In general, the lower and smoother the bars get, the less aggressive the threshing action.
