As harvest season concludes, we are amazed by the different harvesting conditions across North America. In many areas, yield averages were higher than expected, despite the wet, cold spring that stalled getting crops into the ground followed by a hot, dry summer.

Nick Briese, Case IH Combine Product Specialist for Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, the Dakotas and Nebraska, provides this week’s harvest report. Briese grew up on a Montana farm where his family still grows spring and winter wheat while running only Case IH equipment. Medley has been with Case IH for 37 years, spending the last seven years as a combine product specialist. When recent tornadoes struck Oklahoma City, Okla., and surrounding areas, Case IH customer Eric Wolgemuth and his custom wheat harvesting crew from Pennsylvania knew they had to help. This spring’s wet conditions have made getting into fields a challenge. We’ve seen some of the latest planting dates in history, and the cool, wet weather has resulted in prime growing conditions for weeds.
