After serving as a summer CNH Parts & Service marketing intern, Patrick Johnson headed back to Yale University this fall to begin his sophomore year studying economics. He grew up near Janesville, Wis., and from a young age worked side-by-side with his father, Leo Johnson, the co-principal of Johnson Tractor Inc.
Patrick Johnson is no stranger to Case IH products and services, but serving as a CNH Parts & Service marketing intern at the Case IH headquarters in Racine, Wis., allowed him to see the “inner workings” of the company. He worked on a wide variety of projects, ranging from national advertising campaigns and product support programs, to a dealer suggestion website that will continue to generate value for the company.
With Johnson’s involvement in his family’s farm-equipment dealerships, he was fascinated to see the support side of the business and how CNH Parts & Service is important to the overall success of Case IH. When customers sign a purchase or lease agreement at a dealership, it’s only the beginning of an important relationship between customers and Case IH.
Johnson already knows the value of CNH Parts & Service: His family’s company, Johnson Tractor Inc., achieved Pinnacle status for Parts & Service in 2012. In addition, the dealership recently earned the prestigious 2012 Dealer of the Year award from Farm Equipment magazine.
Johnson was proud to be part of the many behind-the-scenes efforts that go into bringing the correct component to the correct customer. Combined with innovative programs for making routine maintenance convenient, Case IH dealers offer flexible scheduling, early-morning parts delivery and service in the field.
Johnson also had the opportunity to work on projects that affected all the brands under the extensive CNH umbrella. “These projects provided broad exposure to industries and products that I was previously unfamiliar with,” he says. “The global scope of the CNH organization also gave me a wider appreciation for the many resources and people who support the Case IH brand.”
Beyond the actual work, the company also provided a great summer environment, Johnson notes. He met interns from around the globe and enjoyed several company-sponsored outings, including a Brewer’s baseball game at Milwaukee’s Miller Park.
Through our CNH and Case IH intern programs, we are committed to helping competent, talented college students become part of a great team. Interns work together with other colleagues and participate in structured projects, agreed upon in advance, that meet their specific study goals and interests. This experience helps them Be Ready to become enthusiastic, engaged members of the ag community in the future.
