Case IH Customers Responding Positively to New LB4 Baler

This is the first season for the Case IH LB4 large square baler, and it was one of the many pieces of Case IH hay and forage equipment that was on display last week at the 2013 Farm Progress Hay Expo in Waukon, Iowa. Have you used the new LB4 baler?

According to Brett DeVries, Case IH Hay & Forage Marketing Manager, growers’ reactions have been very positive. Some producers in the southwest U.S. have been using the baler since January, and they’ve taken to the stylish, modern look of the baler and its additional capacity.

“Producers are excited about the new capacity and larger pickup — they can pick up more hay evenly. We’re hearing positive feedback on its robust design and durability, particularly how heavy duty the pickup feed assist roller is.”

The new LB4 baler was tested globally in all crops and conditions, baling more than 200,000 bales. It has a 20 percent increased capacity and features a high-inertia flywheel that is 19 percent larger than previous models. This results in improved performance in uneven windrows. The gearbox runs at an astonishing 48 strokes per minute to put crop through the machine quicker and more efficiently.

While a lot is new, some of the best features haven’t changed. Case IH’s industry-leading double-knotter assembly provides outstanding reliability, minimizing mis-ties.
