Today’s guest blogger is Tyler Romoser, Case IH combine marketing intern who grew up with red iron on his family’s farm. Tyler is majoring in ag systems technology at Iowa State University, and has spent his last three summers as a Case IH intern.
Coming from a family farm in southeast Iowa and growing up on red equipment, working for Case IH had always been somewhat of a dream job for me, and over the past three summers I have had the opportunity to do just that. During my sophomore year, I first spoke with a college recruiter for Case IH at our fall agricultural career fair, and after a few emails and a couple of telephone interviews, I was offered my first internship.
During my time as an intern over the past three summers, I have had the opportunity to be part of the Axial-Flow® Combine Technical Support Group, the Combine Field Test Group, as well as my current role on the Combine Marketing Team.
Throughout my internship with the Combine Marketing Team this summer, my time has been pretty evenly split between working in the office and working around the equipment and machinery. Even though it was a marketing internship, I still spent a good deal of time outside the office, getting hands-on experience with the machinery and learning how these machines function and continue to evolve.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of my internship has been the opportunity to listen to customer feedback and their thoughts on our machines. After taking part in a customer review clinic earlier this summer, it truly is amazing how valuable customer feedback is to Case IH and how it ultimately drives the development process for new equipment and new technology.
Overall, I could not have asked for better internship experiences than those I have had with Case IH. If someone were to ask me, “What was the best part about being a Case IH intern?” – I would be hard-pressed to provide them with just one answer.
What kept me wanting to come back as a Case IH intern was a culmination of the general industry knowledge I was gaining, the variety of challenging and meaningful projects I was involved with day-in and day-out, and always being viewed as a valuable member of a team and not just summer help.
Additionally, I cannot speak highly enough of those people I have had the opportunity to work with, full-time and interns alike. From the apartments that are provided for the summer, to attending Brewers baseball games, and the always fun “Intern Ride and Drive” event, it is very evident that Case IH highly values its interns and takes pride in creating a positive learning and work environment for everyone throughout their internship experience.
