My name is Abigail Fink and I am currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, majoring in agribusiness with an emphasis in communications and marketing. This summer I have been working as the Shows and Event Marketing Intern at Case IH. I found out about this opportunity through a career fair on campus. My job includes planning and executing customer-based events such as farm shows.
My main project this summer is to plan and manage Case IH’s representation at the Racine County Fair in Union Grove, Wis. My responsibilities at the fair will include determining equipment availability, arranging equipment transport, keeping equipment shined, soliciting training, managing almost 50 volunteers, designing and setting up our exhibit and ensuring that everyone on our lot is having a safe and successful experience. I have already assisted with the Hay and Forage Expo and will be helping with other shows, including Farm Progress Show.
The best part of my internship has been the experience I have gained, along with the people with whom I work. Case IH provides their interns with the tools they need to be successful. Everyone has been very willing to work with me and help me out to the best of their ability. I love the fact that there is always a large variety of things for me to do and that I am not just working in the office all the time.
I would recommend this internship to any college student who enjoys planning events and being at farm shows. This is a great internship opportunity for not only someone who has a strong passion for agriculture, but also for those who may not have any type of equipment or agriculture background. Working on shows and events has given me the opportunity to learn about all the different aspects of the company along with all the different product lines they have to offer.
